Tribal Farmers’ Conclave cum Exhibition Held in Dima Hasao 

Haflong: The ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dima Hasao, successfully organized a two-day “Tribal Farmers’ Conclave cum Exhibition” on November 6–7, 2025, at the auditorium of Haflong Government College. Supported by several ICAR institutes and national boards, the event aimed to strengthen agribusiness and promote sustainable livelihood opportunities across the tribal and hill regions of Northeast India.

The conclave witnessed the participation of over 700 delegates, including experts, progressive farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, FPOs, scientists, and policymakers. Chief Guest Debolal Gorlosa, CEM of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, lauded KVKs for bridging the gap between farmers and scientists and stressed the adoption of climate-resilient practices in horticulture. Guest of Honour Nandita Gorlosa, Minister of Sports & Youth Welfare, Government of Assam, urged farmers to integrate Jhum and irrigated cultivation for sustainable growth.

In his welcome address, Dr. G. Kadirvel, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI, emphasized the need to bridge technology gaps and announced that KVKs would conduct On-Farm Trials (OFTs) to boost productivity.

The event featured exhibitions, expert sessions on integrated farming, secondary agriculture, and entrepreneurship meets connecting farmers with institutions. Highlights included the launch of the KVK Dima Hasao product logo, release of publications, unveiling of “Ginger Squash”, and distribution of Soil Health Cards. Progressive farmers and entrepreneurs were also felicitated for their outstanding contributions.
