Agartala, Jan 21: On the eve of Tripura Statehood Day, the state government has announced the recipients of the State Civil Awards and Statehood Day Awards, recognising individuals and institutions for their exceptional contributions across diverse fields. The awards will be formally presented during the state-level Statehood Day समारोह scheduled to be held on January 21 at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.
Among the State Civil Awards, the highest honour, Tripura Bibhushan, will be conferred posthumously on renowned educationist Dhirendra Chandra Dutta in recognition of his lifelong contribution to the field of education. The Tripura Bhushan award will also be given posthumously to former Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Biswabandhu Sen, while noted screenplay writer Biplab Goswami will receive the same honour for his contribution to creative arts.
The Sachin Dev Burman Memorial State Award has been announced for eminent folk artist Surya Kumar Debbarma, popularly known as Sadagar, acknowledging his role in preserving and promoting Tripura’s folk traditions. The Maharani Kanchanprabha Devi Memorial State Award will be presented to Champa Das of Kamalghat in West Tripura. In the field of science and environment, Dr Arijit Das, Associate Professor and Head of the Department at Bir Bikram Memorial College, Agartala, has been selected for the State Award.
The Statehood Day Awards will also honour excellence across various sectors. The Good Citizen Award will go to Gautam Das of East Pratapgarh in West Tripura, while Atkalapa Biotechnology LLP of Nagichhara has been chosen as the Best Startup Entrepreneur. In agriculture and horticulture, Dhanbabu Halam of Simbukchak village in Salema, Dhalai district, will receive the Best Entrepreneur Award.
Krishna Debbarma of Mohanbhog in Sepahijala district has been selected as the Best Entrepreneur in Fisheries, and Ratan Debnath of Bishramganja will be honoured for excellence in the Animal Husbandry sector. For contributions in handloom, handicrafts and beekeeping, Uttam Kumar Das of Teliamura in Khowai district will receive the award, while Dipak Dutta of Kanchanbari in Fatikroy, Unakoti district, has been selected as the Best Entrepreneur in Industrial Enterprise.
The Best Mobile App Award will be presented to Satyabrata Biswas of East Jogendranagar in West Tripura. Tulamura PACS Limited of Gomati district has been selected for the Best Cooperative Society Award. Lakshman Malakar of Belonia in South Tripura will be honoured as the Best Educationist, while sportsperson Shriparna Debnath of Natunnagar will receive the award for excellence in sports.
The awards aim to celebrate excellence, dedication and service, forming a key highlight of Tripura’s Statehood Day celebrations.
