Tripura Assembly Budget Session Cut Short by Two Days Amid TTAADC Polls

Agartala, March 19: The ongoing Budget session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly has been curtailed by two days and will now conclude on March 23 instead of the earlier scheduled date of March 25.

The decision follows a proposal by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who suggested reducing the number of sitting days in view of the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, as announced by the State Election Commission.

The original schedule had been finalised during the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting held on March 6, which fixed the session from March 13 to March 25. However, after the minister’s proposal, a fresh BAC meeting was convened under Speaker Rampada Jamatia, where all political parties unanimously agreed to shorten the session.

Following the consensus, the Assembly will now wrap up its proceedings on March 23, aligning legislative business with the evolving electoral schedule in the state.
