Tripura CM Felicitates Asmita Dey for Historic Commonwealth Games Judo Gold

Agartala, Aug 6: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday felicitated judoka Asmita Dey for creating history by winning India’s first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medal in judo, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to promoting sporting excellence and supporting young athletes.

During a meeting at Tripura Bhawan in New Delhi, the Chief Minister congratulated Asmita on her landmark achievement and praised her determination, discipline, perseverance and dedication. He described her success as a moment of immense pride for both Tripura and the nation.

Saha said Asmita’s achievement on the international stage marked a significant milestone for Indian sports and reflected the rewards of hard work and commitment. He added that her accomplishment had brought honour to both the state and the country.

The Chief Minister said Asmita’s journey from Tripura to the top of the Commonwealth Games podium would serve as an inspiration to millions of aspiring athletes across India, encouraging them to pursue excellence in sports.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to developing sports in the state, Saha said Tripura would continue to strengthen its sporting ecosystem, encourage young talent and provide opportunities for promising athletes to excel at national and international competitions.
