Dhalai: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday said the state government is prioritising the development of tourism while promoting peace and harmony through cultural initiatives. He made the statement while inaugurating the Unity Promo Fest 2025 and Shishu Udyan at Narkelkunja in Dumboor, Dhalai district.
Describing the event as more than just a celebration, Saha said, “This festival is not merely a cultural event, but a message of peace, harmony, and unity.” The Chief Minister noted that this was the second edition of the Unity Promo Fest, which has now been extended from one day to two due to growing public demand. He commended the Tourism Department for what he called “the right decision at the right time,” adding that such events embody the collective spirit of Tripura’s people.
Highlighting Tripura’s cultural diversity, Saha said the state is home to around 19 ethnic groups and communities who coexist in mutual respect and peace. “People from all walks of life, including various castes and tribes, live harmoniously in this state,” he remarked.
He further stated that the government has been organising major tourism festivals at six locations across the state to boost tourism and create local employment. Emphasising the importance of local engagement, he added, “Many people in Tripura are not fully aware of their own state. We must first know our own land and make it economically prosperous.”
The event was attended by Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, MLAs Ranjit Das, Nandita Riang, and Sanjay Manik Tripura, along with senior officials including Tourism Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, District Magistrate Vivek HB, and Superintendent of Police Mihir Lal Das.
Organised by the Tourism Department, the Unity Promo Fest aims to celebrate Tripura’s cultural richness while positioning the state as an emerging tourism destination in Northeast India.
