Tripura CM Manik Saha Projects BJP Sweep in TTAADC Elections, Credits PM Modi for Tribal Support

Agartala, March 25: Ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed strong confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prospects, attributing the party’s growing appeal to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking after congratulating the 28 BJP candidates announced for the polls, Saha highlighted the party’s campaign as rooted in widespread public trust in Modi, which he said is increasingly resonating among tribal communities across Tripura.

Saha criticised earlier political approaches toward indigenous populations, alleging that previous regimes had treated tribal voters as “mere ballot boxes.” Positioning the BJP as a departure from that legacy, he emphasised the party’s commitment to delivering concrete development outcomes in tribal areas. “If tribal communities genuinely seek development, only the Prime Minister and the BJP can deliver it,” Saha asserted, projecting a decisive mandate in favour of his party.

The Chief Minister expressed optimism that the BJP would secure victory across all 28 seats and form the TTAADC government, marking a significant political milestone in the region. The elections are being closely monitored as a key measure of the BJP’s influence in tribal-dominated areas of the Northeast, where identity politics and regional dynamics have historically shaped outcomes. A strong performance in the council polls is expected to further consolidate the BJP’s foothold in Tripura and reinforce its broader strategy in the Northeast.
