Agartala, August 21: The Tripura Education Department has issued show-cause notices to 30 school personnel following surprise inspections that detected irregularities and deficiencies in schools and hostels under various Education Inspectorates of West District.
The inspections were conducted to strengthen academic monitoring, accountability and the quality of education in government schools. Teams comprising Officers on Special Duty of the Directorate of Elementary Education reviewed academic and administrative activities under the supervision of the Director of School Education.
The inspections focused on NIPUN Tripura and pre-primary education, including the use of teacher-made teaching-learning materials, activity-based learning, NIPUN Corners and contextualised materials supplied by the department. Officials also assessed PM POSHAN, food quality and hygiene, cleanliness, attendance, classroom teaching and student assessment.
Two Cluster Resource Persons were also issued show-cause notices for alleged negligence of duty, while salaries were stopped in three cases where major misconduct was detected.
The department also recognised good practices, awarding appreciation certificates to three schools for satisfactory academic performance and efforts to improve learning outcomes.
Follow-up inspections found improvements in several schools, particularly in pre-primary education. In one initiative, grandparents were invited to classrooms to share stories and life experiences with children as part of interactive learning.
The department said surprise inspections and regular monitoring would continue, with similar exercises expected in secondary and higher secondary schools.
