Agartala: Tripura is rapidly gaining recognition as a key player in India’s startup ecosystem, recording an impressive 66 per cent average growth in startup recognitions over the past five years. The state’s achievements were highlighted at the Tamil Nadu Global Startup Summit 2025, held at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex, where over Rs 100 crore in investment commitments were announced. The summit drew more than 71,000 visitors and over 20 global startup stakeholders, reflecting India’s growing entrepreneurial momentum.
Delivering the keynote address, Jeya Ragul Geshan B, IFS, Director of IT, Government of Tripura, emphasized the state’s evolution into a regional leader in innovation and entrepreneurship. “Aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of a $5 trillion economy by 2028, Tripura aims to play a strategic role in India’s innovation-led growth under Chief Minister Manik Saha,” he said. Geshan highlighted the state’s focus on inclusive prosperity and the democratization of innovation, including support for women-led startups and Tier 2/3 districts.

Tripura introduced its Startup Policy in 2019 and recently launched the Tripura Startup Policy 2024 with a Rs 50 crore fund to support student startups, incubators, and patent assistance. The state now hosts over 80 recognised startups and eight active incubators, including the ISRO-supported Space Tech Incubation Centre at NIT Agartala.
“Our goal is to blend IT with entrepreneurship, empowering every district with digital tools, resources, and market access,” Geshan said. With robust policy support and rising investor confidence, Tripura is positioning itself as a model for smaller states driving innovation, inclusion, and economic transformation.
