Agartala, March 16: Nallu Indrasena Reddy has received widespread appreciation after delivering the entire Budget speech in the Tripura Legislative Assembly in the Bengali language, a first in the state’s history.
Members from both the ruling party and the opposition welcomed the move and expressed their delight after listening to the Governor’s address. Legislators congratulated him within the House following the speech, which lasted for nearly 50 minutes.
During the address, the Governor outlined the achievements of the state government across multiple departments while also highlighting future goals and policy priorities. His speech covered key areas including tribal development, women’s welfare, improvements in public amenities, housing initiatives and the implementation of various government schemes.
Manik Saha and several opposition leaders praised the Governor for presenting the Budget speech in Bengali, describing it as a gesture that resonated strongly with members of the Assembly.
Governor Reddy, who hails from Telangana, has also drawn appreciation from the public for learning Bengali within a short period and using it in official events. He has additionally addressed state programmes in Kokborok, another prominent language of the region.
Since assuming office, the Governor has undertaken extensive visits across Tripura, covering all districts and divisions within his first year. His visits to remote mountainous tribal villages, some of which had reportedly not been visited by a Governor for decades, have further strengthened his connect with the people and earned admiration across the state.
