Tripura has once again demonstrated its growing industrial potential, earning national recognition as one of the standout performers at the Udyog Samagam 2025 organised by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

The state was felicitated as a Top Achiever across two reform areas under the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) 2024, underscoring Tripura’s strong focus on improving the ease of doing business and driving industrial transformation.

Tripura’s Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma received the award from Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, marking a proud milestone for the Northeastern state.

In his address, Goyal praised the participating states for their proactive governance and reform-oriented initiatives that have strengthened India’s industrial ecosystem. He reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to supporting States and Union Territories in achieving sustainable, quality-driven economic growth that benefits both businesses and consumers.

Tripura, categorised under Category X — which includes Northeastern States and Union Territories with developing systems — emerged as one of the Aspirer States in this year’s evaluation. The state’s recognition was driven by its consistent reform implementation, innovative policymaking, and governance-led facilitation to enhance business efficiency and transparency.

The BRAP 2024 assessment covered 434 reform parameters across Central and State domains and included one of India’s most extensive feedback exercises, drawing responses from over 5.8 lakh businesses and 1.3 lakh interviews across 34 States and Union Territories.

Goyal further urged states to champion innovation, women-led entrepreneurship, startup incubation, and deep-tech industries while leveraging India’s expanding network of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to empower farmers, manufacturers, and emerging businesses.

Tripura’s achievement at Udyog Samagam 2025 not only highlights its reform-driven governance but also cements its position as an emerging hub of investment and entrepreneurship in the Northeast, signaling a promising chapter in the state’s industrial growth story.
