The Tripura government has rolled out a statewide initiative to introduce Artificial Intelligence learning across government schools, targeting students from Classes VI to XII under the “AI Utsav – Skill Competition 2026.”
Delivered via the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship’s Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), the program will provide free AI coursework to roughly 1,920 state-run schools across all eight districts. Skill Development Director Pradeep Krishnaraj stated that students completing the training will receive nationally recognized digital certification, fostering early exposure, digital literacy, and practical readiness for a technology-driven workforce.
Parallel to the school rollout, the state has instituted a comprehensive India Skills Competition framework aligned with the global WorldSkills ecosystem to screen and groom youth talent across 26 technical trades. Key focus areas include cloud computing, cybersecurity, software development, Industry 4.0, and digital construction. Premier regional institutions—including NIT Agartala, Tripura Institute of Technology, the MSME Tool Room, and NIELIT Agartala—will serve as technical hubs providing dedicated candidate screening, mentoring, and competitive training.
