AGARTALA: Tripura Police arrested a suspected drug peddler and seized heroin and yaba tablets worth an estimated Rs 10 lakh during an anti-narcotics operation at Charipara, a bordering village on the outskirts of Agartala, officials said.
The operation was conducted by Amtali Police with assistance from the Tripura State Rifles and the Border Security Force (BSF), following specific intelligence inputs, Officer-in-Charge of Amtali Police Station Rana Chatterjee said.
Police seized around 20 grams of heroin and several yaba tablets from the accused, along with four mobile phones. The seized narcotics were estimated to have a black-market value of around Rs 10 lakh.
Chatterjee said the arrested person would be produced before a court, where police would seek custody for further investigation.
Investigators are working to identify others allegedly involved in the drug network and determine whether the accused has links with a larger trafficking network operating along the border areas.
Police suspect that the accused was involved in supplying narcotics in and around Agartala.
The Amtali Police said the investigation was underway and further arrests could follow based on information gathered during the probe.
