Tripura Police Detain Bangladeshi National, Indian Tout in Sepahijala

Agartala, Jan 4: Tripura Police on January 3 detained a Bangladeshi national and an Indian tout from the Sonamura–Kamalnagar area in Sepahijala district, officials said.

The detainees were identified as Main Uddin, a resident of Jamalpur in Bangladesh’s Feni district, and Anik Hossain, an Indian national from Kamalnagar under Sonamura Police Station. Police said the duo was picked up by personnel of Sonamura Police Station late in the evening.

Following the detention, a case was registered and an investigation was launched to ascertain the circumstances under which the Bangladeshi national was present in the border area. Officials said the Indian national was suspected of facilitating illegal movement across the international border.

Both the accused were scheduled to be produced before the court of the learned magistrate on January 4, police added.
