The Tripura Directorate of Skill Development has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Land Port Authority of India to introduce targeted training programmes using the infrastructure of the Akhaura Integrated Check Post. The agreement, finalised on December 4 at the office of the Director of Skill Development, enables the state to utilise facilities such as a smart classroom, a 30-seater conference hall, meeting rooms and other training spaces at the ICP.
According to the department, these facilities will be opened from the last week of December for exclusive skill enhancement programmes designed for women living in nearby border areas. Director of Skill Development Pradip K. said the initiative aims to bridge existing skill gaps by offering IT-based training and accounting courses, including Accounting Assistance, GST and Tally. He added that using the ICP’s training infrastructure will help improve employability among women in the region.
Tripura Integrated Check Post Manager Debashis Nandi said similar collaborations are planned for the Sabroom and Srimantapur ICPs. The expansion is expected to establish a wider network of accessible training hubs, allowing women in border communities to build market-relevant skills and strengthen their economic opportunities.
