Tripura to Fully Digitalise Healthcare Services by October 31

Tripura’s healthcare services will be fully digitalised by October 31 as part of efforts to create a modern, technology-driven, integrated and patient-friendly medical system, a senior official said on Tuesday, August 11.

Health and Family Welfare Secretary Kiran Gitte announced the target while addressing a workshop on the Integrated Health Management Information System (IHMIS) at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala.

Gitte said several health councils in the state, including those governing medical, pharmacy, nursing and allied health services, had already transitioned to online systems.

He said the successful adoption of digital systems by these councils and the drug procurement supply chain, despite limited manpower, demonstrated that similar technology could be implemented across other areas of healthcare.

Drawing parallels with everyday digital services, Gitte noted that people routinely use online platforms for ticket bookings, banking, insurance payments and school admissions. He said healthcare services could similarly benefit from comprehensive digital integration.

The state government, he said, was committed to completing the digital transformation by the October 31 deadline.

“Time is our biggest challenge, but our goal is clear and achievable,” Gitte said, adding that the initiative could provide Tripura with another opportunity to emerge as a leading state in digital healthcare.

He also referred to the state’s achievements in areas such as ease of doing business reforms, the PM-JANMAN scheme and rural development.

Under the proposed unified digital healthcare framework, patients’ medical histories will be securely accessible across different health centres. The system is expected to improve continuity of care and help healthcare providers deliver treatment more quickly.

The initiative will integrate healthcare services across Tripura while reducing reliance on manual processes, officials said.
