Itanagar, Feb 23: A 19-year-old woman from Tripura is recovering in hospital after allegedly being subjected to extreme physical and sexual assault by her live-in partner in Gurugram. Police on February 22 revealed that the accused allegedly burned her private parts using sanitiser and filmed her nude.
Officers in Gurugram arrested 19-year-old Shivam, a resident of Narela in Delhi, on February 19 following a complaint from the victim’s mother, who is a police officer in Tripura.
According to police, the woman made a desperate phone call to her mother on February 16 around 10 pm, saying she feared for her life. She alleged that Shivam had been beating and burning her for three days and threatened to kill her. The two had reportedly met online after he promised marriage and were living together in a paying guest accommodation in Sector 69, Gurugram.
Investigators said the accused allegedly confined her for three days, forced her to drink urine, stabbed her multiple times, and assaulted her over suspicions of infidelity.
The woman, described by her mother as a bright student who had come to Gurugram for studies, was rescued on February 19. She initially received treatment at AIIMS Delhi and is currently stable at Safdarjung Hospital.
“My daughter is very bright in her studies. She had come to Gurugram to study. However, Shivam lured her into a trap through an online app,” her mother said.
A police spokesperson stated that charges of rape and assault have been added to the FIR and the accused has been sent to jail. The case is under strict monitoring, and further investigation is underway.
