Trump Claims He “Solved” Eight Global Conflicts, Including India-Pakistan Tensions; Calls Russia-Ukraine War His “Number Nine”

Washington: US President Donald Trump has once again asserted that he “solved” eight major global conflicts, including the recent May escalation between India and Pakistan, and expressed confidence that he can end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war — referring to it as his “number nine.”

Speaking during a bilateral lunch with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on Friday (local time), Trump credited his leadership for diffusing tensions between several nations. “I solved eight wars. Go to Rwanda and the Congo, talk about India and Pakistan… Look at all the wars we solved,” he said.

Citing the May standoff between India and Pakistan following India’s Operation Sindoor — a series of precision strikes on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) — Trump claimed to have prevented a potentially catastrophic conflict. “The Prime Minister of Pakistan said I saved millions of lives… Look at Pakistan and India as an example. That would have been a bad one — two nuclear nations,” he added.

He also took aim at previous US administrations for starting wars rather than ending them. “To the best of my knowledge, we’ve never had a president who solved even one war. Not one. Bush started a war. Many of them did. They didn’t settle it. But I saved tens of millions of lives,” Trump said.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that his diplomatic and trade policies helped de-escalate the India-Pakistan conflict. However, India has consistently dismissed such assertions, maintaining that all matters with Pakistan, including those involving Jammu and Kashmir, are strictly bilateral.

On the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, Trump expressed optimism about brokering peace. “This will be number nine… We are going to have success with this (Ukraine) war,” he said, calling it “an easy one for me to solve if I have to solve it.”

He also suggested that tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan could be swiftly addressed under his leadership, but reiterated that his primary responsibility was to safeguard American interests. “I love solving wars… You know why? Because I like stopping people from being killed, and I’ve saved millions and millions of lives,” Trump remarked.

Trump’s comments came after an hour-long phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which he claimed “great progress” was achieved. He later announced plans for an in-person meeting in Budapest, Hungary, aimed at exploring pathways to end what he described as the “inglorious war” between Russia and Ukraine.

“President Putin and I will meet at an agreed location — Budapest, Hungary — to see if we can bring this ‘inglorious’ war between Russia and Ukraine to an end,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
