TTAADC Poll Campaign Ends Today as Security Tightened with 24 CAPF Companies Deployed

Agartala, April 10: The campaign for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections is set to conclude this evening, with authorities ramping up security measures ahead of polling scheduled for April 12 across 28 constituencies.

A total of 24 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been sanctioned to ensure peaceful voting, following initial concerns over personnel shortages. The deployment includes forces from the Border Security Force, Sashastra Seema Bal, and Central Reserve Police Force. Officials confirmed that four companies have already reached the state, while the remaining units are expected to arrive shortly and will be stationed across all constituencies.

The election will see a four-cornered contest, with major political parties such as the Bharatiya Janata Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Indian National Congress, and Tipra Motha fielding candidates in all seats. The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura is also contesting, intensifying the electoral battle.

In the lead-up to the polls, political parties conducted extensive campaigning through rallies, bike processions, door-to-door outreach, and street-corner meetings across the region.

Tripura Director General of Police Anurag stated that elaborate arrangements have been made, with personnel from Tripura Police and Tripura State Rifles deployed at all polling stations. He added that booths have been categorised based on vulnerability to ensure targeted security coverage.

With counting scheduled for April 17, authorities have reiterated their commitment to conducting free, fair, and peaceful elections across the TTAADC region under heightened security vigilance.
