Goalpara, May 14: Police arrested two alleged drug traffickers during a raid carried out in the Krishnai area of Assam’s Goalpara district on Tuesday evening.
The accused have been identified as Sahidul Islam and Manowar Hussain.
According to police sources, the operation was conducted around 7 pm, during which officials recovered approximately 86 grams of suspected heroin from the possession of the two accused.
During the raid, police also seized a motorcycle and two mobile phones allegedly used in connection with the trafficking activities.
Both the accused were taken into custody for further investigation, while police have initiated a probe into possible links with a wider narcotics network operating in the region.
Officials said Assam Police has intensified its anti-drug crackdown across the state, with investigations and enforcement operations against narcotics trafficking being carried out in a swift and sustained manner.
