Imphal, June 27: Security forces arrested two alleged militant operatives linked to different banned outfits during separate operations conducted in Imphal East and Imphal West districts on June 25 and 26, according to Manipur Police.
In the latest operation on June 26, security personnel apprehended Buyamayum Pingku (27), who is alleged to be an active cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) [KCP (PWG)]. He was arrested from Khomidok Umang Leikai under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East district. Police identified him as a resident of Khomidok Masjid Maning.
In another operation carried out on June 25, security forces arrested Md. Azad Khan (46), an alleged active cadre of the United National Liberation Front (Pambei) [UNLF(P)], from Sangaiprou FCI Road under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West district.
According to police, Khan is a resident of Borayangbi Thongkha in Bishnupur district and is allegedly involved in the illegal sale of arms. During the operation, security forces also seized a Tata Safari DiCOR bearing registration number MN-04A-4696.
Police said further investigation is underway into both cases as security agencies continue operations against insurgent activities and illegal arms networks across the state.
