Itanagar, March 10: Two Indian Army personnel, including a Naib Subedar, lost their lives after their vehicle plunged into a ditch in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Subansiri district, a defence official said.
The accident took place on March 7 near Reddi village, close to the India-China border, while the Army vehicle was travelling from Gelemo to Taksing as part of operational duty under Operation Snow Leopard.
The deceased have been identified as Naib Subedar Kulwant Singh of the 908 Field Regiment under the 56 Artillery Brigade and Naik Pradeep Kumar Sharma of the 18 Sikh Regiment, a resident of Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh.
According to officials, the vehicle’s driver, Amarjeet Gujjar of the 908 Field Regiment, sustained minor injuries in the incident. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Field Hospital in Borarupak and is reported to be out of danger.
The Army has initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident. Authorities have also conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers.
