Two Arrested with 660 Grams of Suspected Brown Sugar in Manipur’s Senapati District

Imphal, Feb 21: Security forces intensified their anti-narcotics drive in Senapati district on February 19, arresting two young men and seizing a substantial quantity of suspected brown sugar during a naka checking operation.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, personnel stationed at the T. Khullen Naka Check Point under Senapati Police Station intercepted a four-wheeler during routine inspection. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 48 soap cases containing approximately 660 grams of suspected brown sugar concealed inside.

The accused were identified as Rahish Khan (22) and Mustakim Ahamad (23), both residents of Irong Chesaba Mayai Leikai in Kakching district. They were taken into custody at the spot.

Security personnel also seized the Hyundai i20 car bearing registration number AS01AP0631, along with two mobile phones and two Aadhaar cards from their possession.

A case has been registered in connection with the seizure, and further investigation is underway to determine the source and intended destination of the contraband. Officials said intensified checking and surveillance are continuing along vulnerable routes as part of sustained efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
