Two-Day Workshop Promotes Integrated Farming and Natural Agriculture at Mazbat

UDALGURI-SONITPUR July 15: The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (CSS-ATMA) under the District Agriculture Department, Udalguri, organised a two-day special training camp and workshop at No. 2 Ujagar Gaon under Mazbat Development Block to promote integrated livestock farming and natural agriculture.

Around 40 progressive farmers from Mazbat Development Block and adjoining areas attended the programme, which focused on low-cost, zero-waste farming systems. Resource person and progressive farmer Prasanna Rabha explained how integrating livestock with crop cultivation could reduce production costs and demonstrated the use of livestock waste as organic manure. He also highlighted natural methods to improve disease resistance in livestock and poultry.

Mazbat Agricultural Development Officer Himadri Gogoi, Block Technology Manager Ziaul Ahmed and Assistant Technology Manager Lohita Rabha briefed participants on government schemes and modern farming technologies. Agricultural Extension Assistant Jwangsar Basumatary and progressive farmers Prafulla Nath and Jwangsar Basumatary also shared their experiences and encouraged the adoption of sustainable farming practices.

The Agriculture Department also conducted a farmer registration drive during the workshop to facilitate participants’ access to future government schemes and agricultural benefits.
