Two Forest Mafias Arrested for Attacking Policeman in Tamarhat

Tamarhat: Police of Dhubri district under Tamarhat Police Station today arrested two forest mafias who had attacked a police officer of Rupsi Police Outpost and sent them to judicial custody in Dhubri jail. According to reports, on February 7, a police team led by officer Jahanuddin Sk of Rupsi Police Outpost under Kokrajhar district went to Nangolbhanga Bazaar at Uzanpetla village under Tamarhat Police Station in Dhubri district to arrest forest mafias Fajal Mondal and Saiful Islam Mondal.

However, before the arrest could be made, a group of around 10 to 12 forest mafias led by Fajal Mondal and Saiful Islam Mondal attacked the police team and fled the scene. As a result of the attack, police officer Jahanuddin Sk was seriously injured. On the same day, the injured officer lodged an FIR at Tamarhat Police Station against Fajal Mondal, Saiful Islam Mondal, and 15 others in connection with the incident. Based on the FIR, Officer-in-Charge Ratul Das of Tamarhat Police Station conducted an operation and arrested the main accused, Fajal Mondal and Saiful Islam Mondal, early this morning for attacking the police. 

Subsequently, a case (No. 10/26) was registered under Sections 132/121(1)/221/324/3(5), and the arrested forest mafias were sent to judicial custody in Dhubri jail. It is noteworthy that Fazal Mondal and Saiful Islam Mondal have previously also been accused of assaulting forest officials and damaging vehicles of the Forest Department.
