Imphal, Feb 12: Security forces arrested two active members of the banned KCP (MFL) group from Manipur’s Imphal West district on February 11, 2026, in an operation aimed at curbing extortion activities in the region.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Thangjam Goutam Singh (19) and Diamond Chingshubam (24), both residents of Khabi Mamang Leikai in Imphal West. Acting on intelligence inputs, security personnel conducted coordinated early morning raids at their respective residences and apprehended them without incident. Family members were present during the searches.
During the operation, security forces seized a Royal Enfield Meteor motorcycle (registration number MN04G-2108), two mobile phones and an Aadhaar card. Officials said the mobile phones are expected to provide crucial information about the extortion network, and forensic analysis will be carried out to trace communications with other members of the proscribed outfit.
Authorities stated that the arrests form part of an ongoing campaign to dismantle the influence of banned organisations operating in the district. No details were disclosed regarding any resistance during the operation or prior cases involving the accused.
Both individuals remain in custody as investigations continue. Officials indicated that interrogation may reveal further details about the structure and operations of the KCP (MFL) in Imphal West and could potentially lead to additional arrests.
Security forces have urged the public to cooperate and share information to help eliminate extortion rackets in the area. Further enquiry is underway, and updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
