Imphal, July 1: .Security forces arrested two men from Rajasthan in Manipur’s Jiribam district after recovering 5 kg of opium and ₹50,000 in cash from their vehicle during a routine operation, police said on July 1.
The arrests were made on June 30 when security personnel intercepted a four-wheeler at Leingangpokpi for inspection. During the search, officials recovered the suspected opium along with ₹50,000 in cash from the vehicle.
The accused have been identified as Dhanraj Prajapat (46) and Buddha Ram (44), both residents of Rajasthan.
Police have taken both individuals into custody, while the seized narcotic substance and cash have been confiscated as part of the investigation.
Officials said further inquiries are underway to determine the origin of the opium, its intended destination, and whether the accused are linked to a wider drug trafficking network.
