Two Suspected Burglars Arrested, Stolen Gold Jewellery and Mobile Phones Recovered in Guwahati

Guwahati, June 1: In a significant breakthrough in a burglary case, a team of the Emergency and Guided Patrol Division (EGPD) of Basistha Police Station arrested two suspected burglars and recovered several stolen valuables linked to a theft reported from Sanjogi Byelane in Sixmile, Guwahati.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Md. Sahjahan Ali, also known as Saru (22), a resident of Sipajhar, and Mafijul Hoque, alias Moinul (31), from Gauripur. Acting on leads developed during the investigation, police launched an operation that resulted in the apprehension of the two suspects.

During the operation, officers recovered one stolen LAVA 5G mobile handset, two stolen Realme Android smartphones, two suspected gold chains with lockets, one suspected gold ring and five pairs of suspected gold earrings believed to be linked to the burglary.

According to Guwahati Police, sustained investigation and interrogation of the accused led to their confession regarding their involvement in the Sixmile burglary case. The two men also reportedly admitted to participating in several other theft incidents across different parts of Guwahati.

Police have initiated legal proceedings against the accused, while further investigation is underway to determine the extent of their involvement in other burglary and property-related offences in the city.

The successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Guwahati Police to combat property crimes and strengthen public safety through prompt investigation and enforcement action.
