Udalguri, Aug 6: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday commended the Udalguri Police for carrying out a major anti-narcotics operation that resulted in the seizure of 344.38 kg of ganja valued at approximately Rs 1.72 crore.
Sharing the development on social media, Sarma praised the police for intercepting the consignment before it could reach its intended destination, describing the operation as a significant success in the state’s ongoing drive against drug trafficking.
According to the Chief Minister, the contraband was recovered during a well-coordinated operation conducted by the Udalguri Police. One person was apprehended in connection with the seizure.
Sarma lauded the efforts of the police personnel involved in the operation and said the successful interception underscored Assam’s continued resolve to curb the illegal narcotics trade.
Reiterating the state government’s commitment to combating drug trafficking, the Chief Minister said strict action against those involved in the illicit trade would continue as part of Assam’s sustained anti-drug campaign.
