Guwahati: United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer will embark on his first official visit to India on October 8–9 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced.
According to the MEA statement, the visit aims to review the progress and deepen cooperation under the India–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in alignment with the ‘Vision 2035’ roadmap. “At the invitation of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom the Rt Honourable Sir Keir Starmer MP will visit India on 8–9 October 2025. This will be Prime Minister Starmer’s first official visit to India,” the MEA said.

The visit follows Prime Minister Modi’s trip to the UK in July 2025 and is expected to build on the momentum of bilateral discussions, reaffirming both nations’ shared vision for a forward-looking partnership.
During his stay, Prime Minister Starmer will join Prime Minister Modi in attending the 6th edition of the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai, where both leaders are scheduled to deliver keynote addresses and engage with industry experts, policymakers, and innovators.
On October 9, the two leaders will assess the progress made across multiple pillars of cooperation — including trade and investment, technology and innovation, defence and security, climate and energy, health, education, and people-to-people relations — under the ‘Vision 2035’ framework.

Both prime ministers are also expected to interact with business and industry leaders to explore opportunities under the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), identified as a central pillar of the evolving economic partnership. The discussions will further include exchanges on regional and global issues of mutual concern.
