Ulema Unity Forum Issues Declaration Banning Foreign Islamic Speakers and Restricting Religious Gatherings in Assam

Guwahati: The Ulema Unity Forum, Assam, has issued a significant declaration aimed at regulating religious activities across the state, including a complete ban on foreign Islamic speakers from delivering sermons or holding religious meetings.

According to the declaration, religious gatherings or meetings will no longer be allowed to take place in every neighbourhood or mosque, as such events have increasingly become commercialised. The forum stressed the need to preserve the sanctity of religious practices and prevent their misuse for monetary gain.

The new guidelines also prohibit the collection of donations through madrasa students, warning that any such act will be considered a violation of the forum’s directives. Additionally, the use of loudspeakers during religious gatherings has been strictly banned to curb noise pollution and maintain peace in residential areas.

During the same announcement, members of the forum paid tribute to singer Zubeen Garg and reiterated their demand for justice in connection with his death.

The declaration by the Ulema Unity Forum is being viewed as a crucial move to restore discipline and authenticity in religious practices across Assam.
