ULFA (I) Cadre Arrested in Namsai in Joint Police and Assam Rifles Operation

Namsai: A coordinated operation by the Arunachal Pradesh Police and the Assam Rifles led to the arrest of a United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) cadre in Namsai on Saturday morning. The arrested individual has been identified as Anupam Dohotia, also known as Thousen Axom, a resident of Barekuri in Assam’s Tinsukia district.

According to officials, Dohotia was among the key operatives involved in the recent attack on the Kakopathar Army Camp in Tinsukia on October 17. The incident had raised security concerns in the region, prompting intensified surveillance and counter-insurgency efforts along the interstate border.

During the arrest, security personnel recovered an MQ rifle, 151 rounds of live ammunition, a bottle grenade, and a rifle grenade from his possession. The seized weaponry indicates the militant’s active involvement in ongoing insurgent activities, authorities said.

Dohotia is currently undergoing interrogation at the Namsai Police Station as investigators seek to uncover links to other members of the outfit and assess potential plans for further operations in the border areas. Officials described the operation as a strategic breakthrough in efforts to reduce militant movement and influence across the Assam–Arunachal frontier.

Security agencies have reiterated their commitment to sustained vigilance and coordinated action to prevent insurgent activities in the region.
