Unidentified dead body of a woman recovered from Janali river in Nasraibil

Gossaigaon: A sense of shock gripped the residents of Nasraibil this morning after an unidentified female dead body was recovered from the Janali River under Gossaigaon sub-division.

         According to the sources, the dead body was first noticed by local villagers around 7:00 AM, who immediately informed the Saraibil Police Outpost. Acting swiftly, the In-Charge (IC) of Saraibil police outpost, along with his team, reached the spot and conducted a preliminary inquiry.

         Police confirmed that the deceased woman is estimated to be around 55 years old. However, her identity remains unknown as no documents or belongings that could help establish her identity were found at the site.

         Villagers suspect that the woman might have slipped into the river while visiting the riverbank, possibly to collect fish. However, police have not ruled out any possibility.

         To ascertain the cause of death, the body has been sent to Kokrajhar Medical College & Hospital for post-mortem examination. Officials stated that only the autopsy report will clarify whether the death was accidental or if any foul play was involved.

         Meanwhile, authorities have urged the public to provide any information that could assist in identifying the deceased woman. Further investigation is underway.
