Union Budget 2026 Focuses on Inclusive Growth and Nation-Building: Tripura CM Manik Saha

Agartala, Feb 8: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on February 7 said the Union Budget 2026 lays strong emphasis on comprehensive development across key sectors such as education, healthcare, defence and infrastructure, while keeping youth, farmers, the poor and women at the centre of policy planning.

Speaking at the Budget Yuva Conference organised by the BJP Pradesh Yuva Morcha in Agartala, Saha said the budget mirrors Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047. He underlined that national development is a collective responsibility and called upon citizens to contribute sincerely towards achieving long-term growth goals.

Highlighting the significance of continuity in economic governance, the chief minister noted that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her ninth consecutive Union Budget, a milestone he said reflects stability and consistency in fiscal planning. He also recalled that the merger of the Railway Budget with the General Budget after Modi assumed office had helped streamline financial management and bring greater efficiency.

Explaining the broader objectives of the budget, Saha said it clearly defines the country’s income and expenditure while identifying priority areas for investment. He pointed out that nearly 15 per cent of the total budget allocation has been earmarked for the defence sector, underscoring the importance of national security alongside development. He added that the Prime Minister’s consistent focus on youth, farmers, the poor and women is aimed at reducing social disparities and ensuring inclusive progress, with multiple provisions in the budget designed around these groups.

The chief minister said employment generation has received special attention, with the budget setting a target of creating 3.5 crore jobs through initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana. He also highlighted measures focused on farmers’ welfare, including ensuring fair prices for agricultural produce and strengthening rural and agricultural infrastructure.

The event was attended by BJP state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharya, former MP Rebati Tripura, BJP Yuva Morcha president and MLA Sushanta Deb, along with senior party leaders and workers.
