Guwahati: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) organised a National Quiz Competition on the life and contributions of renowned artist Zubeen Garg as part of its Founder’s Day 2025 celebrations. Conducted by the USTM Quiz Forum under the theme “Celebrating the Life & Activities of Zubeen Garg: Where Knowledge Meets Zubeenism,” the event honoured the singer’s artistic legacy and humanitarian influence.
After several competitive rounds, Team “Mukti”—comprising Bhargav Bhushan Biswapati, Bikas Das and Debasish Deka from Bhattadev University and DIET, Nalbari—won the First Prize of ₹25,000. The Second Prize of ₹20,000 went to Jowarjit Kashyap, Abhinav Saikia and Debasish Deka from Gauhati University and Guwahati Commerce College, while the Third Prize of ₹15,000 was awarded to Arya Kalpa Bhattacharya, Jyotiraj Gogoi and Jitul Koch from DIET Dhemaji and Dhemaji College. Three consolation prizes of ₹2,500 each were also distributed.

The day also featured a Founder’s Day Pitch Competition organised by the Centre for Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship (CIIE), where young innovators showcased their ideas. Team “Neuroflex” won the First Prize of ₹20,000, followed by “F&V Agro Tech” (₹15,000) and “Nanoheal Innovators” (₹10,000). Two consolation prizes of ₹2,500 each were presented.
Winners from both events were felicitated in the presence of USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque, Vice Chancellor Prof. G. D. Sharma, and senior university officials. USTM, accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC and consistently ranked in NIRF, continues to strengthen its position as a leading private university in Northeast India.
