Veteran Journalist Dhirendra Nath Chakraborty Passes Away at 98

Guwahati, Feb 22: Veteran journalist Dhirendra Nath Chakraborty passed away on February 22 at the age of 98. He had been admitted to a private hospital in Guwahati on February 19 and breathed his last at 7:35 a.m.

Chakraborty enjoyed a distinguished and enduring career in Assamese journalism, serving as editor of several prominent newspapers, including Dainik Asom, Raijor Batori, Ajir Batori and Dainik Janmabhumi. Over the decades, he became a respected voice in the media landscape, known for his commitment to accuracy, integrity and thoughtful analysis.

Colleagues and contemporaries remembered him as a guiding force in Assamese journalism. His work not only informed public discourse but also mentored and inspired generations of journalists who followed in his footsteps.
