Guwahati: Engines roared and spirits soared as the “Vishwas Yatra”, a motorcycle rally championing women’s safety and empowerment, set off from Guwahati to Jorhat on Wednesday. Led by Angoorlata Deka, Chairperson of the Assam State Commission for Women (ASCW), the rally was flagged off by Chief Secretary Ravi Kota and aims to inspire courage, equality, and justice for women across Assam’s heartland.
Comprising 16 riders — both men and women, the rally entered Morigaon district this afternoon, where Chairperson Deka held an interaction with police officials and district administrators at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
“This is not just a bike rally,” Deka told reporters. “We want to raise awareness among women about self-belief, empowerment, and justice. Our goal is to remind every woman of her rights guaranteed by the Constitution and encourage her to use them fearlessly.”

The four-day journey will cover Morigaon, Nagaon, Golaghat, and Jorhat, with awareness meetings and public interactions planned at each stop. The ASCW also reminded that women in distress can seek immediate help by calling the 181 Women’s Helpline.
Carrying a message of solidarity and strength, the ‘Vishwas Yatra’ underscores the Commission’s mission to ensure safety, equality, and dignity for every woman in Assam — urging them to believe in their power and trust the institutions built to protect them.
