Volleyball Tournament Held at Tamarhat

Tamarhat: On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, an eight-team volleyball tournament was organized with a two-day programme on January 27 & 28  at the premises of Tamarhat Police Station in Dhubri district. The tournament was jointly organized by Tamarhat Police Station, the Tamarhat Police Station Area Citizens’ Committee, and the Village Defence Force. Despite their busy professional commitments in journalism, the Tamarhat Press Club team participated in the tournament.

In the final match, played between the Tamarhat Press Club team and the Tamarhat Police team, the Tamarhat Press Club defeated the Tamarhat Police by a margin of 2-1 to clinch the championship title. Prior to the final, in the semi-final matches, the Tamarhat Press Club defeated the Barundanga Gaon Panchayat team, while the Tamarhat Police team defeated the Kumarganj Gaon Panchayat team to secure their places in the final. With the objective of encouraging the younger generation who are increasingly attracted to mobile phones to take greater interest in physical sports and games, the Tamarhat Police Station, the Citizens’ Committee, and the Village Defence Force have been organizing this volleyball tournament every year.
