Guwahati: Addressing a press conference at Janata Bhawan in Dispur today, Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika announced that the state has made significant strides in flood management over the past year.
Hazarika stated that only three embankments were breached across Assam last year—a marked improvement compared to previous years. He described this as evidence of the department’s “remarkable progress” in tackling one of the state’s most persistent challenges.

The minister credited the achievement to strengthened embankments, improved monitoring systems, and timely interventions by the Water Resources Department. He further assured that the government will continue efforts to reduce flood-related damages in the years ahead.
