A woman has alleged serious negligence and irregularities at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Monigong town of Arunachal Pradesh’s Shi Yomi district after she reportedly failed to receive medical assistance during an emergency visit with her infant.
The incident, reported from the remote border town of Monigong near the India-China frontier, has renewed concerns over the delivery of healthcare services in one of the state’s most inaccessible regions.
In a video recorded at the PHC, the woman claimed that she reached the health centre during official working hours but found no doctors, nurses or other medical staff on duty. She alleged that she searched both the hospital premises and the staff quarters but was unable to locate any personnel to provide emergency treatment.
She further claimed that the health centre has been facing inadequate facilities for a long time and alleged that medical staff are frequently absent even when patients require urgent care. The woman also questioned the professionalism and punctuality of the doctors and nursing staff, expressing concern over the functioning of the facility.
The allegations could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate response from the Shi Yomi district administration or the Arunachal Pradesh Health Department.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the challenges of maintaining uninterrupted healthcare services in remote border areas, where government health centres often remain the primary source of medical care for local residents.
