Workshop on “Trading in Equity Market of India” held at Duliajan Girls College

Duliajan: A one-day workshop on “Trading in Equity Market of India” was held recently, at the Digital Classroom of Duliajan Girls College. The program was inaugurated by the Principal of the College, Dr. Utpal Sut by lighting a lantern. He was accompanied by the Vice-Principal Dr. Jashshya Bora and several senior lecturers. In his welcoming speech, Dr.Sut said that trading in equity markets has been playing an important role in the economy of India. Nowadays, we are familiar with the terms equity market, stock market, bonds, trading etc. but our knowledge of these subjects is limited.  Therefore, the workshop is organized to learn a lot about trading. 

The workshop was held on both online and offline platforms and benefited the teachers, staff and students of the college as well as other participants. The resource person Dr. Nishant Thard, Asstt. Professor, Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University gave a fluent explanation on the topic which helped the participants to understand many aspects of the share market.On why we should know about the equity market, Dr.Thard said that,this business is the key to economic growth and increase our wealth.We don’t need a lot of money to start trading, but we do need knowledge of the market and a little study. He mentioned that one should start small in the stock market, study the market in depth and invest for a long time.Again he said investors should be prepared to take risks in such businesses because good returns can be expected only where the risk is high.

This market certainly requires patience from investors. He mentioned the world’s most patient investor, Warren Buffett, who bought his first stroke in the stock market at the age of 11 and founded Buffett Partnership Limited at the age of 26 with US$105,000. Dr.Thard  discussed the topic by showing the live of the stock market online and discusses various aspects in that regard as well.The time of interaction with the participants also benefits everyone.

The workshop was moderated by the Head of English Department and Assistant Professor Chayyamoni Hazarika.and it was concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Geetima Dutta, Coordinator, Internal Quality Assurance Cell(IQAC) of the college.
