Sports Desk: Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh expressed grief over the killing of three Afghan cricketers in a recent airstrike near the Pakistan border, urging for peace and unity amid the tragedy that has shaken the cricketing world.
“Heartfelt condolences to the families of the young #Afghanistan cricketers who lost their lives in the recent attack. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time. May their memories inspire peace & unity,” Yuvraj wrote on X.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed on Friday that three domestic players were killed while traveling from Urgun to Sharana in Paktika province, near the Pakistan border, to participate in a friendly match. The players were targeted upon returning home, in what the board described as “a cowardly attack carried out by the Pakistani regime.”

The victims have been identified as Kabeer, Sibghatullah, and Haroon. Five other people also lost their lives in the strike. In response to the incident, Afghanistan has withdrawn from next month’s tri-nation series involving Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The attack has drawn widespread condemnation from the cricketing community, with players and officials calling for solidarity and remembrance of the young athletes.
