Guwahati: The Assam Police announced that the final posthumous report of cultural icon Zubeen Garg, including the findings from his viscera analysis, will be revealed tomorrow at 4 PM to a selected group of journalists, artists, and family members. The disclosure comes as a significant development in the ongoing probe into the singer’s mysterious death in Singapore last month.
CID Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta clarified that the report will not be made public, but civil society representatives have been invited to review and discuss its contents. “It is incorrect to say that the final post-mortem report will be released publicly. Tomorrow at 4 PM, we will share updates and show the report to selected eminent members,” Gupta stated, without specifying the names of those invited.

He also emphasized that the report, along with viscera findings, will eventually be presented before the court as part of due legal proceedings. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that the CID Assam has received key directives following the submission of Garg’s viscera report by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Delhi. The CM assured that all findings will be formally submitted to the court to maintain transparency and public confidence.
In recent weeks, the CID has intensified its investigation, recording statements from Zubeen Garg’s friends, collaborators, and family members to gather crucial insights. Today, several individuals appeared at the CID office, including Prayashi Baruah, a close friend of Zubeen Garg; Anita Deka Mahanta, wife of Shyamkanu Mahanta; Lonima Sharma, spouse of Shekharjyoti Goswami; and the parents of Sandeepan Garg. Their testimonies are expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the singer’s untimely demise.

Officials said that the selective review is intended to ensure clarity in the investigation and reinforce public trust in the legal process. Chief Minister Sarma added that the CID is carefully analyzing all forensic evidence, coordinating with authorities in India and abroad, and following every investigative lead. As public interest in the case remains high, the report’s selective disclosure is seen as a decisive step to curb misinformation, address concerns, and uphold the integrity of one of Assam’s most high-profile and emotionally charged investigations in recent years.
