Zubeen Garg’s Post-Mortem Report to Be Submitted Only to Court, Not Released Publicly: SIT Chief

Guwahati: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the untimely death of celebrated singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg has confirmed that the post-mortem report will not be made public, but will be submitted directly to the court.

Addressing the media on Monday, SIT Chief and CID Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta stated that the investigation is moving forward swiftly and strictly following legal procedures. “The SIT has already received the post-mortem report, but it will not be released at 4 PM tomorrow as speculated. It will be presented directly before the court,” Gupta clarified.

Providing an update on the progress of the probe, Gupta revealed that several key individuals connected to the case have arrived for questioning, and more are expected in the coming days. “In the next two days, additional persons will appear before the SIT. There is also a possibility that one individual from Singapore will arrive today,” he said.

Gupta further informed that permission has been sought for the SIT to travel to Singapore to continue the line of inquiry abroad. “Investigations are ongoing in Singapore, and all relevant information has already been shared with the authorities there. Once formal approval is obtained, our team will visit Singapore for further investigation,” he noted.

On the question of re-interrogation, the SIT Chief clarified that individuals currently in 14-day judicial custody cannot be questioned again at this stage, in compliance with legal provisions. “The investigation is being conducted in accordance with the expert committee’s guidance, ensuring every step aligns with due process,” he added.

Gupta reassured the public that the probe is being handled with complete transparency and professionalism, emphasizing that all developments will be communicated responsibly as the investigation progresses. The SIT continues to piece together crucial details surrounding Zubeen Garg’s mysterious death, a case that has drawn widespread attention and emotional response across Assam and beyond.
