Guwahati: Though Zubeen Garg is no longer physically present, his spirit continues to echo through every cinema hall in Assam as his long-awaited dream film Roi Roi Binale opens to packed audiences across the state. In a touching tribute, nearly every theatre has reserved a seat for Zubeen — a symbolic gesture honouring the man who defined an era of Assamese music and cinema.
At Matrix Cinema Hall in Guwahati, the management went a step further by arranging a special sofa draped with a traditional Assamese gamosa, on which a framed photograph of the beloved singer-actor was placed. It stood as a quiet yet powerful reminder that legends never truly leave — they simply change seats.

A similar tribute unfolded at Nakshatra Cinema Hall in Dhekiajuli, where the first row carried a chair marked for Zubeen. A life-sized cutout of him, dressed regally, was placed beside it — as if the icon himself was watching over his audience like a king witnessing his own coronation.

A Dream That Outlived Its Creator
History was made in the early hours of Friday when Roi Roi Binale premiered at 4:25 AM across Assam. The film’s release was not just a cinematic event but an emotional pilgrimage. Many in the audience broke into tears as the opening scenes appeared on screen — overwhelmed by the sense of loss and love that Zubeen left behind.
The film represents the realisation of Zubeen’s most personal and ambitious dream — a reflection of his music, philosophy, and creative soul. Although he did not live to see it come alive, the people of Assam ensured that his dream reached its rightful stage.
A Record-Breaking Release
Roi Roi Binale has made history in Assamese cinema, being released in 94 theatres across Assam with an astonishing 456 shows every day.
In Guwahati alone, 13 theatres are hosting 157 daily shows, starting as early as 6 AM. Other towns too have joined in the celebration — Bijoynagar with six daily shows, Mangaldoi with five, and Bongaigaon with 30 across two halls. Tezpur leads the chart with 42 shows daily, followed by Tinsukia (16), Jorhat (21), Lakhimpur (20), and Dibrugarh (12). Even smaller towns like Diphu, Haflong, and Margherita are screening the film multiple times a day, turning the release into a state-wide festival.
Beyond Assam: A Nationwide Tribute
The magic of Roi Roi Binale has extended far beyond Assam’s borders. The film is now screening in major cities across India and neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh. Itanagar is hosting nine shows daily, while the Mumbai Metropolitan Region is running 12 shows across 10 theatres. Delhi-NCR (26 shows) and Bengaluru (23 shows) have also joined the tribute. Screenings are taking place in Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Kochi — proof that Zubeen Garg’s art transcends geography and language.
The Legend Lives On
Roi Roi Binale is more than a film — it is Zubeen Garg’s final love letter to Assam. Every song, every frame, and every silence bears his essence. The reserved seats in theatres stand as sanctuaries of remembrance, symbolising a collective act of devotion from the people he touched through his art.
In life, Zubeen gave Assam its sound; in death, he gave it its soul. Roi Roi Binale is not just a release — it is an emotion, a celebration, and a promise that the legend of Zubeen Garg will live on for generations to come.
