Zubeen Garg’s Statue Unveiled at Kahilipara as Fans Mark His Birthday with Emotional Tributes

The birthday of the music icon Zubeen Garg was observed with deep emotion and devotion on Monday as admirers gathered from early morning at his Kahilipara residence, singing devotional and celebratory songs in honour of the beloved artiste.

In a poignant moment, a statue of Zubeen Garg was unveiled beside his cherished Bakul tree within the residence premises. The ceremony was attended by his father, Kapil Borthakur, his wife Garima Saikia Garg, family members, and scores of admirers. Emotions ran high when his father gently touched the statue of his son, a gesture that brought tears to many in attendance.

Tributes extended beyond Kahilipara, with large gatherings at Zubeen Kshetra in Sonapur and Sarusajai. The Sonapur observance featured a blood donation camp, Naam-Prasang, the plantation of Nahor saplings, and an evening ritual in which 5,000 diyas were lit. Later, 500 sky lanterns illuminated the night sky as part of the homage. Cultural performances, including Bhaona, added to the day-long remembrance.

Thousands of admirers thronged both Zubeen Kshetra and his Kahilipara home, turning the day into a moving blend of devotion, celebration, and heartfelt remembrance for an artiste whose legacy continues to resonate across Assam.
