KALIABOR: Jakhalabandha Police, in a joint operation with Bagori Police, seized a truck carrying 30 cattle allegedly being transported illegally along the national highway in Assam’s Kaliabor area.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the vehicle, bearing registration number AS 01 FC 7761, during a search operation along the highway.
The truck was reportedly travelling from Sivasagar towards Meghalaya when it was stopped. Police recovered 30 cattle from the vehicle and alleged that they were being transported illegally.
Three people allegedly involved in the transportation were detained. They were identified as Hari Bahadur of Sadiya, Shahid Ali of Samatapathar in Sonapur and Habibul Islam.
Police have initiated an investigation into the alleged illegal transportation and said operations against cattle smuggling would continue in the area.
