Guwahati: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has announced with pride that Saikat Majumdar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Rural Development, has been conferred the Young Scientist Award in Agronomy for his outstanding research contributions to the field.
The award was presented at the International Conference on Modern Agriculture and Allied Sciences, 2025, organised by Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV), Cooch Behar, in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Engineering, Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh, and the Society for Agriculture, Allied Sciences and Technology. The conference featured academic participation from renowned national and international institutions, including the University of Maryland (USA), Shantou University (China), IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences, GFSRD India, SR University, Warangal, and others.

The recognition underscores Majumdar’s significant contributions to agronomy and sustainable rural development, highlighting his innovative, field-based research aimed at strengthening agricultural productivity and rural livelihoods.
