Oil India Reports Record Growth, Unveils Biofuel Push at 66th AGM

Duliajan: Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise, held its 66th Annual General Meeting (AGM) today, where Chairman & Managing Director Dr. Ranjit Rath reaffirmed the company’s commitment to building a resilient, diversified, and sustainable energy future in line with India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.

Highlighting a landmark achievement, Dr. Rath drew attention to the inauguration of the world’s first bamboo-based 2G Bio-Ethanol Plant at Numaligarh, Assam, on September 14. The project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Ports, Shipping & Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and senior officials.

“The commissioning of this project underscores OIL’s pioneering role in India’s bio-energy transition, aligning with the government’s Make in India and import substitution goals,” Dr. Rath said. He also noted the Prime Minister’s foundation stone laying for a ₹7,000-crore polypropylene plant at Numaligarh, which will significantly boost Numaligarh Refinery Limited’s (NRL) petrochemical capacity.

FY 2024–25 marked OIL’s highest-ever oil and gas output, with 6.71 MMTOE and record natural gas production of 3,252 MMSCM. On the financial front, the company reported total income of ₹23,987 crore (standalone) and ₹37,830 crore (consolidated), with net profits of ₹6,114 crore and ₹7,040 crore, respectively.

OIL also emphasized its push toward clean energy, noting progress on its Net Zero 2040 target. The company recorded a 59% reduction in flaring, advanced green hydrogen projects, invested in renewables and biofuels, and is developing India’s first large-scale Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) facility.

On the social front, OIL continues to invest in healthcare, education, skill development, sports, and livelihood programs in its operational areas.
