Gossaigaon: The Office of the Returning Officer, BTC Constituencies, Gossaigaon, has issued a notification enforcing the statutory silence period in connection with the forthcoming BTC Election 2025.
As per Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the campaign period will conclude at 4:00 PM on September 20, 2025. Thereafter, a 48-hour silence period will remain in effect until the close of polling at 4:00 PM on September 22, 2025. The order applies to the constituencies of Guma (OPEN), Srirampur (Non-ST), Jamduar (ST), Saraibil (ST), and Kachugaon (ST).

During this period, no person will be permitted to hold, attend, or address public meetings or processions in connection with the election. Further, the display of election materials through cinematograph, television, or similar means, as well as the organization of musical concerts, theatrical performances, or other entertainment activities intended to influence voters, will be strictly prohibited.
The directive also mandates that political leaders, campaign workers, star campaigners, and party functionaries who are not registered voters of these constituencies must vacate the area after 4:00 PM on September 20, 2025.

The Returning Officer has emphasized that these measures are intended to ensure free, fair, and peaceful conduct of the elections.
