Several rivers, including the Dikhou in Sivasagar, Dhansiri in Golaghat, Barak in Cachar, and Kushiara in Sribhumi, are flowing above the danger mark, worsening the situation.
To aid those displaced, authorities have set up 29 relief camps, sheltering 8,131 people, and operationalised 19,162 relief distribution centres. So far, no loss of life has been reported in this wave, though floods have already claimed 32 lives in Assam this year.
The deluge has also damaged agriculture, with 4,632 hectares of cropland submerged and over 14,861 animals affected.
